"The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice." - MLK

"Democracy has to be born anew every generation, and education is its midwife."   - John Dewey

EEC provides schools & communities with the tools they need to powerfully invite their students into becoming engaged citizens with visions and aspirations for change-making.

EEC programming integrates the power of art, story-telling, and the individuals' moral imagination.

Projects are designed to follow students' curiosity and/or interest and aliveness around an issue/problem. By following this issue/problem students increase their civic knowledge and skills while developing their own citizen conscience of individuals with agency, voices and capacity to be effective, intrinsically empowered citizens.

Below is a link to a short video (4 min.), created at the Greensboro International Civil Rights Center and Museum that shows an example of youth project engagement.

EEC uses the power of story and art to connect program participants to what

they care about in support of the process

of becoming effective, empowered,

engaged citizens.
